I attended Northeastern University from 2000 to 2005, and graduated with a duel Bachelor Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. During the course of my attendance at Northeastern University, I have completed course that is crucial to my field of study. Courses such as Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns, Algorithms and Data Structures, Database Design, Software Development, Probabilities, Stochastic Process and Statistical Analysis, Calculus, Number Theory, Differential Equation, Group Theory, and etc…

Prior to graduation I accepted the position of Associate Software Engineer at Deploy Solutions Inc. My primary starting role was to give in-depth support of the company's primary application. Also to debug, troubleshoot, and create bug fixes when needed. I excelled in my position quickly learning all aspect of software and customer support. Aside from application support, I would voluntary for development projects, taking on small tool developments. Within 6 months I was given a promotion to Software Engineer. I started to apply my knowledge and skills that I learned in college and my Co-op experience. Applying design patterns and best practices to all the projects I manage. Very quickly, I earned the trust and confident of all my co-workers through my ability to produce quality projects at an astonishing pace. I was able to meet most deadlines ahead of time even with additional requirements that was requested during the life cycle of the project. Though this, I was able to gain valuable experience in multiple aspects of software engineering, such as team work, cooperative development, software architecting, time management, and multitasking.

After 1 year and few months, in August of 2006, I started my new position as a Senior Software Engineer at UpToDate Inc. Though the knowledge I gain from past experience, I was able to come up to speed at my new company within days, Learning new software languages, new practices, and applying Design Patterns and best practice to all my work. I was able to start producing billable work within 3 days. My biggest accomplishment thus far is able to complete a 22 days project within 1 week. And after the code review, my work astonished everyone with the level of quality in such brief time.

I am very ambitious in my career, and I have very high level goals I would like to obtain. I will continue to aspire to become an adaptable software architect, and strive for perfection in every project I work in. Never sacrifice qualities for quantities, also attempt to complete project on time or ahead of deadline. Not only will I attempt to be a very innovative software engineer but a very good team player also. A development team only works best when everyone works together and strives for a single goal.

Beyond my experience at work, I tried my best to involve myself in the community and also in more creative development projects. I recently completed a project that I am very proud to speak of. The ImagineCup Championship was open to all college students with an imagination and inspiration to create software. My partners and I enter the competition, with an entry of Voice to Voice Mobile communication application. The basic concept is to help people who have difficult speaking a foreign language. Our Application utilizes the Microsoft Speech SDK to capture sound, converts it to text, sends it to a translation server, and then compiles a sound wave to be sent back to the mobile device with the intended message in the foreign language. With this project we were able to capture 1st place regionally and 3rd place nationally. My two primary roles in this project were to develop an interface that captures the spoken word and work on the translating server. I utilized Microsoft C# to develop the interface and SQL server to perform the task of translation. Our project and success stories can now be seem on many of Microsoft and technical newsletters. In my spear time I also design webpage as a hobby, sites such as http://churkleung.com, and http://simplefunctions.com are sites that I continuously improve on design and performance.

I hope my cover letter and resume catch your attention. If you feel that I am a qualifying candidate, feel free to call and set up and appointment for an interview. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely
Churk Y. Leung
